Instructions:
Scarf:
Using col. 10 (petrol) cast on 42 sts (including 2 selvedge sts) and work in garter st between the selvedge sts. Beg work with a WS row. When work meas 26 cm ( = 73 rows) start the colour change in the next RS row: work to last st then work last st using one thread in col. 10 (petrol) and one thread in col. 14 (amber) (both threads held together). Turn work. Work the 1st st in col. 14 (amber), the 2nd st in both colors ( petrol and amber) then lay col. 14 (amber) to the front of the work and finish row in col. 10 (petrol). Make sure to pull the sts tight after the col. change to avoid a hole in the work. In the next row work until 3 sts rem. Work the next st with both col. (petrol and amber) then the last 2 sts in col. 14 (amber). Turn. Then work the first 3 sts in col. 14 (amber), the next st (4th st) using both cols, then work row to end using col. 10 (amber). Cont. working col. change as established until all sts are worked in col. 14 (amber). Work even in col. 14 (amber).
When work meas total of 56 cm (= 156 rows) beg with the next WS row work the col. change again.
Next row: work to last st, then work last st using one thread each in col. 14 (amber) and 15 (moss green) (held together). Turn. Work the first st in col. 15 (moss green), the 2nd st using both cols then finish the row using col. 15 (moss green). Now cont as established in the previous col. change until all sts are worked in col. 15 (moss green). Work even using col. 15 (moss green).
When work meas total height 92 cm (= 257 rows) beg with the next RS row, work the col. change from col. 15 (moss green) to col. 09 (purple) as before from petrol to amber.
When work meas total height of 128 cm (= 358 rows) beg with the next WS row, work the col. change from 09 (purple) to col. 14 (amber) as before from amber to moss green.
When work meas total height 158 cm (= 443 rows) beg with the next RS row, work the col. change from col. 14 (amber) to col. 13 (burgundy) as before from petrol to amber.
When work meas total height of 198 cm (= 555 rows) cast off all sts k-wise.
Hat:
The hat is worked in the round using dpns.
Using smaller dpns and col. 13 (burgundy) cast on 72 sts and join round. Divide sts evenly onto the 4 dpns ( 4 x 18 sts). Work in ribbing for 4 cm (= 9 rnds) then work 1 rnd p sts. Change to larger needles and cont. in rev stockinette st in rnds and col sequence. When work meas total height of 17,5 cm (= 42 rnds) finish hat using col. 14 (amber) as foll:
Rnd 43: work every 7th and 8th st as p2tog (= 63 sts)
Rnd 45: work every 6th and 7th st as p2tog (= 54 sts)
Rnd 47: work every 5th and 6th st as p2tog (= 45 sts)
Rnd 49: work every 4th and 5th st as p2tog (= 36 sts)
Rnd 51: work every 3rd and 4th st as p2tog (= 27 sts)
Rnd 53: work every 2nd and 3rd st as p2tog (= 18 sts)
Rnd 55: work p2tog to end of rnd (= 9 sts)
Break yarn and thread through last 9 sts twice. Pull tight to close hole. Weave in all ends.
