Needle thickness: 7.0 – 8.0 and 1 needle holder (cable pattern needle)
Pattern:
cable pattern (number of stitches can be divided by 3 + 2 est)
1st r (= RSR.): est, * left cross 2 st (= slip 1 st on to cable needle in front of your work, k1. then knit the stitches on cable needle), p 1, from * rep., est
2nd r: knit stitches as they appear
3rd r: est, * left cross 2 st (= slip 1 st on to cable needle in front of your work, k 1, then knit the stitches on cable needle), p 1, from * rep., est
4th r: like 2nd r
Repeat 1st to 4th row
Cuff:
RSR: k 1, p 1 alternating
WSR: Knit st as they appear
Tension sample: (cable pattern, measured slightly
tensioned)
15 st x 18 r = 10 cm x 10 cm
Instructions:
The hat is knitted open RSR and WSR. Cast 60 st and 2 est. Start with a wrong-side row, k 1, p 2 alternating. The work 27 r in cable pattern. From the
29th r, work the decreases in the RSR as follows, knit the st in the WSR as they appear:
29th r: both knit stitches of every second cable k tog, knit the remaining st acc. to pattern (= 52 st)
31st r: Knit both knit stitches of the remaining cables tog, knit the remaining st as they appear(= 42 st)
33rd r: mark the 6th st (est included) and every further 8th st and k tog the marked st and the two following st, knit the remaining st as they appear (= 32 st).
35th r: repeat the decreases exactly above the marked st more time, also k tog the last to st and the est (= 22 st)
37th r: k tog 2 st (incl. est) (= 11 st)
Pull together the remaining 11 st with the working thread and close with a seam as flat as possible. Make a pompon Ø ca. 9 cm and sew to the hat.
The arm warmers are knit open RSR and WSR.
Cast on 30 st and 2 est and knit 4 r in cuff pattern, start with a WSR In the following WSR, k 1 and p 2 alternating, then continue in cable pattern. After 16 cm ( = 27 r) from the beginning of the cable pattern, knit 4 r cuff pattern, then bind all st off straight, knit the st as they appear. Close the side seam as flat as possible, at a height of ca. 15 cm from the lower edge of the arm warmer, leave about 3 cm open for the thumb. Knit the 2nd arm warmer in the same manner.
