Garter stitch: RS and WS rows: k all sts.
Knotted selvedge st: at the beg of row, first st: sl 1 k-wise. At end of row, last st: k 1.
Tension: (measured over garter st)
16 sts x 32 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm

Cast on 3 sts (1 st plus 2 selvedge sts) and work in garter st (first row WS row).
Next row: Selvedge st, M1, k all sts to end, M1, selvedge st. (= 5 sts)
Work all foll RS rows in this fashion until piece measures 40,5 cm on the right and left side edges.
Next row (RS row): selvedge st, k 2 tog, k to end, M1, selvedge st.
Work all foll RS rows in this fashion until piece measures 81 cm.
Next row (RS row): selvedge st, k 2 tog, k to end, k 2 tog, selvedge st.
Cont until 3 sts rem. Cast off rem sts.
Fold the pillow case to 40 x 40 cm and sew the sides tog. Insert pillow form and sew rem opening closed. As desired, a zipper could be inserted here. Break yarn and weave in ends.
