Needles: 1 pair of circular needles in size 8,0 - 9,0mm or size needed to achieve given tension.
Pattern:
Stockinette: RS rows: k all sts, WS rows: p all sts.
Selvedge st: k1 at beg of row and sl 1 k-wise wyif at end of row.
Tension:
11 sts and 16 rnds to 10 cm meas over stockinette stich unfelted.
15 sts and 27 rnds to 10 cm meas over stockinette stitch felted.
Instructions:
Cast on 32 sts (including 2 selvedge sts) and work in stockinette st between the selvedge sts. Beg with a WS row. When work meas 33 cm (= 53 R) cast off all sts k-wise in the foll RS row.
Loop:
Cast on 17 sts and in the foll row cast off all sts. Using Filzwolle, sew the beg and end of the cord onto the cast onto a corner of the potholder. Weave in ends.
Felting:
Wash the potholder (6 potholders at most) in the washing machine at 40°C (warm water) using the wash cycle for cotton or coloured clothing (approx. 2 hours), spin cycle approx. 800-1000rpm, do not use a short cycle or water saving program. Add a small amount of detergent without optical brighteners or softeners. Do not add softeners to the load. To assist the felting process add 3 tennis balls to the load. After the felting process remove immediately from the machine and shape the felted piece into the given length and width. Allow to dry out of direct sunlight.
