Pattern:
Collar pattern:
BR: 1 ES, * 1 S ri, 1 S le, rpt. from *, end with 1 S ri, 1 ES
RSR: kn. S as they occur
relief pattern: (stitch number divisible by 2 + 1 S)
1st and 3rd R (RSR): knt. ri S
2nd R: kn. le S
4th R (BR): 1 S le, 1 S ri, rpt from *, end with 1 S le
1st - 4th R always rpt.
Stitch test (relief pattern): 10 S x 16 R = 10 cm x 10 cm
Instructions: (different information for the larger sizes is in brackets)
The poncho is knitted crossways (see knitting chart).
Back:
Cast on 51 (54) S plus 2 ES and knt. 3 R in the collar pattern, start with a BR.
Continue as follows: 1 ES, 48 (51) S relief pattern, 3 S collar pattern, start with 1 S le, ES At the same time, start with the left shoulder slant, for this, in the 1st R after the collar pattern (= RSR) on the right working edge after the ES, knit one S ri interlaced out of the cross stitch (= pick up 1 S) In each 4th R, rpt. these pickups another 13 (14) x (= 67 (71) S). Add the picked up S to the relief pattern.
In a total height of 36 (38) cm (= 57 (61) R), knit as follows for the back neck band, 1st R = RSR: 1 ES, 3 S collar pattern, start with 1 S le, continue the relief pattern over the following 59 (63) S and over the last 3 S before the ES, 1 ES.
After 28 (30) cm (= 44 (48) R), from the start of the neck band, start the right shoulder slant and now knt. the relief pattern again over all S up to the 3 S (collar pattern) before the le ES.
For the shoulder slant, already knt. tog. 2 S ri pulled over in the 1st R at the right working edge after the ES. (= drop 1 S ri, knt. 1 S ri., pull over the dropped S). Rpt. these drops in each 4th R another 13 (1.4) x (= 53 (56) S). In a height of 33 (35) cm (= 53 (57) R), from the end of the neckline band, end with a RSR, knt. another 3 R and then co. the S staight, while knt. the S as they occur.
Front
knt. in the same way as the back, but create the deeper, front section with the band as follows:
1. R = RSR: 1 ES, 3 S collar pattern, start with 1 S le, continue knt. the relief pattern over the following 59 (63) S and continue the collar pattern over the last 3 S before the ES, 1 ES. At the same time, for the left neckline curvature, already in the 1st R, knt. tog. the 1st and 2nd S of the relief pattern ri pulled over. (= drop 1 S ri tog, knt. 1 S ri., pull over the dropped S).
rpt. these drops again 5 x in each 2nd R (RSR) (= 61 (65) S). Continue knt. as follows without drops. After 20 (22) cm (= 32 (36) R), pick up as follows from the start of the for right neckline curvature:
1st R = RSR: 1 ES, 3 S collar pattern, start with 1 S le, continue the relief pattern over the following 53 (57) S and over the last 3 S before the ES, 1 ES. Already in the 1st R, between the 1st and 2nd S, knt. 1 S ri of the relief pattern interlaced from the cross stitch. rpt. these pickups again 5 x in each 2nd R (= RSR) and add the picked up S to the relief pattern again (= 67 (71) S).
Finishing:
Close the shoulder seam as flat as possible. If wanted, a large button can be attached to the sides at approx. 35 - 40 cm from the lower edge.
